Kelly Ellis, New Zealand, ran for Labour in Whangarei.

Kelly Maloney, UKIP candidate 2004, 2010, who made homophobic comments as part of the campaign, has transitioned.

Melissa Star ran for the Sex Party in Port Melbourne in 2013, and is now the leader of the party in New South Wales.

Michelle Suarez, lawyer, Uruguay, elected alternate senator for the Communist Party.

Paula Overby, Minnesota, after being excluded by the Democratic-Farmers-Labor Party, ran uncontested for the Independence Party nomination, but came third to the Republican incumbent.

Petra de Sutter, Belgium, placed second on the Green Party list for the European elections, but they gained only one seat. In July 2014 it was announced that De Sutter was appointed to the Senate as a Green Party nomination, where she will focus on health care and environmental issues.

The Su-Raj Party in Goa supported trans in their manifesto, stating that poverty and neglect by the society was forcing them to beg and indulge in prostitution.

Sports

The British Medical Journal has published an article on the current policies of the IOC, IAAF and FIFA, reporting that several women have recently been coerced into “partial clitoridectomies” and gonadectomies (removal of gonads) in order to compete.
